"star light, star bright
first star i see tonight
i wish i may, i wish i might
have the wish i wish tonight"
Peace, joy, direction, faith and love. According from the book regarding wishes, these five aspects of life were consistently at the foundation of their wishes. It became clear to me that no matter the exact words of the wish, almost every wisher expressed a desire that fell within one of these areas or described a failed wish related to these issues. It also became clear that there was an opposing dark side to each of these wish realms that contributed some of a wish's essential negative power.
Every wish contains an element of the negative and in some ways expresses a need not only to get something but also to get rid of something in the process. a wish to get over a cold is also a wish to kill off the virus that causes it.When we wish selfishly, impulsively, reactively, and without awareness of the dark side of wishing, our wishing becomes unbalanced. When we allow our brain to do most of our wishing for us, the dark side of wishing can begin to dominate the nature of our wish and we may receive a granted wish that we end up regretting. the key to wishing well is to wish more from the heart and to wish gently and with awareness of the delicate balance between getting what we want and losing what we need.
